Since the early 2000s I have been a practicing artist. For the last 6 years I have had a studio in Arrowtown. My works have been shown in the NZ Art Show in Wellington, various Christchurch and local exhibitions. Mostly I have used acrylics to explore topics that interest me. I love using the different mediums to achieve various textural effects. I also use extensive transparent colour layering to increase depth. I try to express the essence of my emotions on a subject using abstract expressionism and often incorporating symbolism. Recently I have worked in charcoal, pastels and oils to express the human form.
These current works reflect my reaction to how the humble shipping container helped the recovery after the 2011 Christchurch earthquake.
