Gilly Pugh
Multi-media Artist
My partner John Schwarz and I teach at Stage Presents music and theatre school. I am a performer in my own right, having toured NZ many times performing comedy, and I was joint recipient of a Mental Health Foundation “Like Minds Like Mine” media grant, and more recently I have been directing Wanaka’s Christmas Pantomimes. The participants are the creators of the work, with my direction to facilitate and shape the performance. The name Deep Lake Voices comes from our proximity to Lake Wanaka and is also a reflection that young people are potentially assumed to have not much depth to their thinking /expression.
This project gives voice to participants concepts of renewal, particularly with 2020 as the focus.
RENEW means….
Children are the greatest expression of renewal; their willingness to move forward bravely into the unknown with trust, love and a sense of wonder.
